Mother Tongue Co was created around a simple idea: home is more than a place.

Language, pattern, food, family sayings and everyday rituals can carry memories of home across countries and generations. Our collections are inspired by those connections and by the many ways people keep their heritage close in everyday life.

We also recognise that inspiration brings responsibility.

Where our work draws upon a particular language, tradition or cultural art form, we aim to understand its origins, acknowledge its source and represent its meaning with care. We are committed to listening, learning and increasingly collaborating with people from the communities represented in our collections.

Where something is sacred, restricted, ceremonial or inappropriate for commercial use, it does not belong on our products.
